Southwest Showdown – Week 2 Recap

Week 2 is now in the books and the surprise of the league continues to be Team Whipass.

WindyCityMonsters 122.90 vs. Whipass 186.70
Ryan’s ragtag draft strategy has his team to drop 186.70 points on a very good WindyCityMonsters team managed by the draft savvy Roman. Whipass took full advantage of the flex W/R position playing Galloway in that spot who picked up 25.50 points. The big numbers came from Chad Johnson who dropped a killer 42.90 points behind a 209 yd 2 td day in Clevland. Roman’s WindyCityMonsters put up a valiant effort bu could not muster up the points to take the number 1 scoring team down. Whipass is now averaging nearly 180 points per game and it is looking like he will not slow down.

Phresh Phish 113.20 vs. Black and Irish 75.95
Battle of the bottom feeders with the winner getting a .500 record! This game featured the lowest total points points from two teams in the whole league. Hard to believe since this match up hosted the Fantasy Machine LaDainian Tomlinson starting for the boys from Black and Irish. LT managed to scape together only 6 points against the New England defense and all you can say is WTF! Black and Irish could have easily taken this game if he had not traded away Carson Palmer, I bet Roman is kicking himself a little right now for missing out on that trade opportunity. The Phish boys showed that they have some talent and could be competing for a playoff spot come week 14.

G MEN 122.50 vs. Gordo Caballero 104.40
The G MEN pulled away from Gordo Caballero in this one behind the strong foot of Neil Rackers and the surprise emergence of WR A Johnson. Johnson was the sleeper 5th round pick for the G MEN who has become the number 4 receiver in the league. Brad’s Seattle defense was the real disappointment here only managing to gather 2 points against Arizona…the Cardinals people! Next week will be interesting with the G MEN putting there undefeated record up against Whipass and Brad’s Fat Men battling the Red Devil.

America’s Team 88.40 vs. Once again its on 120.40
This does not happen often but when it does you can consider yourself the most unlucky manager on the planet. America’s Team had only 1 TD scored this week and it came from Manning in the QB position, the rest of his team was shotting blanks. The irony here is that Ed J would have still beat Ed L. in a fantasy match up that features LT. Once again its on was one of the many beneficiaries of a high scoring Cleveland/Cincinnati game with Cleveland’s WR Edwards getting 146 yards and two touchdowns, just missing the bonus. America’s team will take its 1-1 record to Black and Irish this week with the crew from Once again its on in a battle of undefeated teams against Eddie’s Pimp.

Edgefan07 96.55 vs. Eddie’s Pimp 126.70
Eddie’s Pimp should be thanking Black and Irish for the greatest trade in the history of Fantasy Football. Eddie’s Pimp picked up Carson Palmer in a move that gave him the highest individual fantasy performance this year. Palmer cranked out 73.30 points in an NFL game that featured over 1000 yard of total offense. 2/3 of the Pimp’s points came from Palmer alone, in fact Palmer alone would have been nearly enough to beat Black and Irish this week. So you are welcome Doug, enjoy it while it lasts. Edgefan07 was short changed by an injury to Kitna and his starting WR core not able to find the end zone. Look for Edgefan07 to turn it around this week against Phresh Phish.

Los Locos 96.10 vs. Red Devil 128.25
The crazy train of Los Locos was rolling but fell victim to the Red Devil himself! Steve Smith’s 3 td’s was just too much to overcome for Los Locos who got limited production from both his kicker and his defense. On the bright side, James and Alexander are both having a good showing early on this year as fantasy performers which could payoff in a big way down the road. Red Devil showed up late to the live draft and his strategy is paying off as his early picks Addai and Smith topping the fantasy performance charts. Next week game will pit the devil against a fat man as the crazy train will try to blow through the windy city.

One Love.
