Writers Union Planning Strike
I have never been a big fan of unions. In this day and age they tend to do more harm than good and the latest union strike will do just that. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has formally announced its plan to strike if a contract resolution can not be reached with the studios by the end of the weekend.
This means all of our favorite shows Heros, Grey’s, Desperate Housewives, etc, etc, will come to a screeching halt. If the strike continues for an extended amount of time we could see the early end to all the show currently on television. In addition, actors stand to miss out on thousands of dollars a day in salaries and potential endorsement deals.
On a side note, Lost should be okay as they have been stockpiling scripts for the past year in preparation for the upcoming season. Maybe the producers could see this coming?

Hurley Smelter Smokestacks Demolished
Great video from Hurley, NM of the Phelps Dodge smokestacks being demolished. This smelter was the bread and butter for many families in the Silver City area for many years.

Parent Crosses Line At Wrestling Match
I will be the first to admit that I get a little emotional at sporting events. I was once removed from a high school basketball game for nearly getting into a fight with a player from my brothers opposing team, but we were both similar in age and build. This was a grown man throwing an 8 or 9 year old across the mat! If that was my son, there would be hell to pay! The camera would be on the ground next to the dad that assaulted my son.
Amazon & Tivo In My Livingroom
Amazon and Tivo have just announce the beta trials of a new service that will allow Tivo owners to download movies to their series 2 or 3 box from the Amazon Unbox service. This means I will have direct download access to all the movies Amazon offers from four of the top six movie studios. I have a feeling that the Pirates will be chomping at the bit for this to go public!
